Venkata K. Ponnaganti, Ph.D. is an Emeritus Professor of Psychology and Ex Director of the Institute for Yoga & Consciousness at Andhra University in South India. He was the editor of Journal of Indian Psychology and served as the President of the Academy of Psychology (India) for one term. Venkata has done extensive research in the fields of yoga and psychology and published several papers in these fields. At the University he developed an approach to help people live more powerful and happier lives through a combination of Yoga and Psychology. His approach is secular, scientific and psychological based on years of research he has done in these fields. He believes that meditation combined with gentle yoga provides an effective approach to self-regulation that integrates body, mind and behavior. He acknowledges that yoga opened a new vista in his life by providing a means to approach life and to come to terms with the complexities of the mind-body processes and living in the world.
Venkata lives in Texas and Florida. He has taught courses on yoga and meditation at various Yoga Studios in the U.S. and is a faculty member at Kingwood Yoga & Wellness Center.
Internationally recognized yoga pioneer and educator, Marita has been practicing yoga 40 years and teaching more than 30. Founder of Kingwood Yoga & Wellness Center she facilitates the teacher training certification program at the 200/500-hour level. In 1995 she established Yoga 4 Kids®, and is one of the founders of the movement for school yoga. She created Yoga in School© for Classroom Management and conducts workshops for staff development and continuing education. Marita developed the board game "Yoga 4 Kids" and produced the instructional DVD "Yoga 4 Kids with Marita Gardner-Anopol". Her Yoga 4 Kids program was featured in TIME magazine. She was praised by KPRC-2 News and appeared on the TODAY show with Matt Lauer.
Marita designed and instituted the yoga curriculum for the kinesiology department at Lone Star College and is a Faculty member since 2005. She created Yoga 4 Corporate America and introduced yoga to executives at Allied Signal, Chanel, Estee Lauder, Honeywell, IBM, Prudential & Sony. Marita has brought yoga to Schools, Camps, Clubs, Homes, Senior Centers & the Office. She provides yoga therapy to people ages 4-104 and is well known and respected for her therapeutic and effective teaching.
Marita was accepted as a professional member into the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She is a founding board member for the International Association for School Yoga & Mindfulness. A wellness coach and ambassador to yoga teachers Marita credits her vibrant good health and unflagging energy to her daily yoga practice.
